Schatzfunde exhibition key visual. Courtesy of the Basel Historical Museum.
As part of the exhibition from the Basel Historic Museum (Historisches Museum Basel) I was commissioned to create 3D reconstructions of several artifacts, that had been uncovered as part of a late Celtic archaeological feature in 2010. These artifacts, along with hundreds of other pieces, are currently exhibited in Treasure Hoards - Hidden, Lost, Found (Schatzfunde - versteckt, verschollen, entdeckt).
The goal, for the animation, was to not only show the objects as they might have looked like when they were intact, but also to provide a visual reference for what remnants correspond with what object. It was crucial that the artifacts on display remained the main attraction, with the visualization providing further context and relevant information.
This project was created in cooperation with the Archaeological Soil Research Department of Basel, namely with Norbert Spichtig and Johannes Wimmer, who provided expert archaeological support for the visualization. Additional support was provided by Pia Kamber and Florian Setz, who brought the animation to life.
